About Mad Hatter's Nursery School

Mad Hatter's Nursery School has specially designed classrooms, a very well equipped outdoor area, highly qualified staff and a rich variety of extra-curricular activities. All this, paired with our 'home from home' ethos ignites children's curiosity and enthusiasm for learning.

At Mad Hatter's we have very close links with Liphook Infant School which helps prepare your child for Year R and provides a seamless move to their new school. This includes sharing training and resources with the Liphook School Federation and a robust process for the process of moving from Nursery School to Infant School.

Inside our Nursery

Our nursery has two specially designed classrooms within a purpose built building. Little Hattie's room can accommodate up to 22 children, aged 2 to 3 years.  Big Hattie's can accommodate up to 24 children, aged 3 to 4 years.

Both rooms have a messy play activity area where the children can enjoy activities such as painting, playdough modelling, collage, sand play, water play and other tactile experiences.

In the main area of each room the children can enjoy the benefit of a well stocked book corner, role-play area, and floor space in which to play with a wide variety of toys and partake in group registrations and story time.

Our exceptional outside space

Outside, the nursery has a fenced hard area and separate grass area.  The outside areas offer the children a sensory herb garden, role-play houses, a digging area, mud kitchen exploration area, a bug hotel within a nature area, large sand-pit, outside play equipment and a large role-play house in which to play.

In 2023, we added a purpose built allotment to enable the children to grow their own vegetables and herbs. The children have loved learning how to care for them and this year we grew strawberries, pumpkins, runner beans and lettuce for the nursery bunny.

The nursery's high quality outside area enables the children to pursue activities during all seasons and in addition Little Hattie's also boasts a large covered veranda to enable the children to enjoy activities outside with protection from the weather.

Our resident bunnies

In the Spring of 2016 we adopted two white dwarf lionhead rabbits, the children voted and they were named Smudge and Marshmallow.

We love having nursery pets and find them hugely beneficial to all the children. The children so enjoy helping to care for them by feeding them and fetching fresh water, as well as helping on hutch cleaning day.

In early 2020 we had a purpose-built enclosure made for the rabbits allowing the children the opportunity to sit and interact with Smudge and Marshmallow.
